From the cradle of coffee

A young goat shepard named Kaldi was fascinated by the reaction of his goats to coffee cherries. Out of curiosity he also tried the unknown fruits. Kaldi told the monks of a nearby monastery about his latest discovery. Soon the monks used these coffee cherries on their own to stay awake during their nocturnal prayers. Convinced that this is infernal stuff, they threw the coffee cherries into the fire, but the aroma of the coffee cherries was so tempting, that Kaldi took some of the roasted and burnt beans and placed them in a dish of clay.

During the night it started to rain and water was dripping on the coffee in the dish. The liquid turned black and again aroused the curiosity of the goar shepard. He took a sip o fit and by doing so he discovered a whole new world of enjoyment for us.

As the sheikh of Aden, Gemaleddin Abou Mohamed Bensaid, got seriously ill, he was given coffee as medicine. The coffee not only healed him, but it also had a revitalizing effect on him. From now on he saw coffee as a gift of god. Because of his passion for the matter, coffee got accepted in all other arabian countires.
